Rca vs. Clip

It is known that RCA connectors provide cleaner no skip power to machines (so they say.) If that is the case, then all machines should be coming out RCA and we should phase out the clip cord? My question is why do many known artist/ machine builders handcraft their machines to still operate with a clipcord? I love anything handcrafted for you can really feel the attention paid to it. What are the reasons as to why machines are still being created with that option? Thanks in advance for any contributions to the topic. For the record, All my machines still operate on the clipcord. My coworker keeps trying to get me to convert to RCA, and I won't know until after I hear from the great MD Council.

RE:Rca vs. Clip

.

i completely switched from clip to rca on all my machines about 5 years ago after some 15 years of hassling around with inconsistent current flow going through tons of all qualities of clip chords, which fucked up after a while without any exception- even heavy duty self mades. my quality rca plugs (neutrik) never failed until now.
with machines i build: on those i build for own use i don't even build clip chord terminals, on those i make for friends i go with both- clip and rca.

RE:Rca vs. Clip

I made a rca jack for all my machines, very simple and easy. I still have access to my clipcord post and such but the rca has made the flow of electricity so much better. I tend to hold my machine in some very odd positions at times and the clipcord would always lose flow and my machine would start sputtering.......hated it so much cus it would interfere with my tattooing. Was a simple fix for me, used my spring punch made a few holes in quarters. Bought the female rca ends screwed those down in the larger hole I punched in the quarter. Had a crap load of lugs around and wire. Soldered em up, bolted the lug to the rear binding post, put a slight bend in the quarter and bolted the quarter to the spring deck. It hangs off the end of the spring deck and so doesn't affect the spring in any way. Give it a shot if you dont like it just take it off no harm no foul, its cheap and easy to do. I even heated the quarters up to turn em black so they wouldn't stand out.
