power supply

Looking for a decent power supply. I've been using a hurricane, starting to think it's about as good as the price was.

RE:power supply

Well in my opinion there area two major players in the power supply field
Eikon and critical
Either one of those should do it for you

Good stuff is going to cost a little more

RE:power supply

the eikon es 200 is awesome, better than the ems 400.

RE:power supply

I own the ems300 as well as the ems 400

The ems 200 is way outdated
Not saying its a bad supply
But it won't run rotaries
And with the ems 250 300 and 400
I would recommend a newer more advanced product.

I heard this saying once:
Tattooing is about 80% profit
Why would you want to settle with outdated subpar equipment?

Buy good stuff
Try hard and do your best with every tattoo
Don't cheap out on cheap knockoff equipment.

RE:power supply

The Cat Box is amazing. Probably more for conventions but I wouldn't mind using it everyday. The thing is indestructible and doesn't skip a beat. If you're on a budget Tattoo Artist Magazine (TAM) sells a supply that I keep hearing nothing but good things about. Someone at the shop got one and loves it. Plus it's American Made and has a lifetime guarantee. If you could find them used, National and Freedom II are also strong and reliable. GL

RE:power supply

I personally love my ems 400. Easy to use and being able to just throw barrier film on it is a plus. I would buy It again for sure.

RE:power supply

Are you sure the ems 200 doesnt run rotaries? Some sites say it does and others say it doesnt.. I'd like to know before I shell out for one and find that its bogus..

RE:power supply

No, the 200 does not run rotaries... I have one, and don't use rotaries personally but my friend came to tattoo me and tried my power supply with no dice.

RE:power supply

The older brand eikon power supplies will run rotaries if they've got a patch update. Eikon offered them for a while when they were transitioning into the newer models. Though it is no longer available. I have a few of the different early eikon models, and most recently picked up an es 300 from eikon, which i really like for my spectra edge x, i figured i'd save the money considering i dont really need the diagnostics on the rotary.
I will probably pick up an ems 420 in summer, not in a hurry, besides, these damn rpg click grips are going to cost me in the following weeks lol

RE:power supply

I love my eikon ems420. This little thing is a monster. smoooth consistant power, runs cheyenne machines without startup cable and you can also run them as low as you prefer.
