Green Monster tube vice issues

I've got a couple of Eikon Green Monsters that I have as backup machines and I've noticed that the one I have set up as a shader has a very irritating tendency of the tube slipping back in the vice. A LOT. I have the thumb screw tightened down as much as humanly possible using a wrench but it still slips regularly.

Has anyone else had this issue, or come up with an ingenious method of "beefing up" the diameter of the tube to minimize slipping?

I don't use the machine a lot, thankfully, but it would be nice to be able to if I need it.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Cheers,
Greg

what type of tubes are you using? if the tube is just too small so its not tightening down enough try using a piece of paper towel around the tube to make it thicker. ghetto but works lol. i use 2 green monsters and haven't had those problems using eikons disposable tubes but my boss has had troubles like that with other machines and the paper towel always worked. as for a permanent fix i have no idea sorry.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! I was thinking of wrapping some masking tape around the tube, but I wasn't sure if that would work or not. I've got a zillion different tubes so I guess I'd better be a little more diligent the next time I set it up and make sure I'm not just grabbing a tube that has too small of a diameter. lol

I've heard that the powder coat in the vice clamp has caused some people issues with the tube slipping, but it only seems to happen with my shader. You're probably right though, I've probably just been not paying attention and using a tube that is too small.

Thanks for the food for thought and I'll be sure to try some different tubes the next time I set it up.

Cheers,
Greg
