Sepia portrait

Hey Mike, just curious as to what inks or color mixes you used for the sepia portrait you recently did. I think it looks awesome! I've been requested to do a sepia portrait from an old photograph. I'm trying to get as much info and advice as I can! Would really appreciate any feed back...thanks!

RE:Sepia portrait

For sepia, Im sure there is a better formula but I just go with all brown tones that look like it would work with the sepia look. Look for the browns that are on the yellowish side and everything in the picture gets all the same tones, so its actually a bit easier than doing a full color tattoo, you don't have to worry about so many colors. A couple colors I can through out there would be something like dark or chocolate brown and sienna colors, light brown, fleshy colors on the yellow side such as fleshy flesh from Eternal... Feel it out. There are so many good colors to choose from now a days that thats all you got to do is pick out your scheme from dark to light.

RE:Sepia portrait

Hey, thanks for the reply Mike, I really appreciate it! That is right along the lines of what I was thinking and I have been looking at quite a few of the Intenze and Eternal browns. I actually do a lot of black and gray work and can sometimes go long stretches without doing any color work let alone color realism, so it can be a little intimidating to jump into it again! I do have a pretty good understanding of color theory, but I look at most of the projects I do in terms of black and gray. I will definitely get a good palette/color scheme together and work from there. Thank you again Mike! Looking forward to seeing more of the kick ass work you put out!
