cheyenne hawk

I Have a question about the cheyenne hawk machine. I recently purchased one and am using a conventional power supply i have read that the Hawk works from anywhere frm 6 to 12 volts and then it cutts off. My machine cutts off at 6.5 . Am i using the wrong power supply??Is there any other cheaper power supplys i can use with this machine besides the hawk power supply..??????

The Eikon power supplies should work just fine.

Speaking of the Hawk, I'm in a position to get the newer 'Spirit' version at a very good rate, has anyone tried them out yet?

I tried the original and really liked it (and as Mike said, Eikon supply's work), but the cartridge prices were a little over the top when compared to a regular machine and needle set-up. However, I've also just come across T-Tech's cartridges which are very well priced. Anyone tried out the Hawk Spirit?

RE:cheyenne hawk

Hi i have had the old one and now i have the spirit, I my opinion there is not much off a difference if any, on those two models, other than the collors. I am very pleased with the Spirit,I line with it and shade / collors , its a smooth and quiet machines it just lays in the collors and lay in lines with no effort. The lining needles groups ar a little tight for my taste but you can use needles from t-tech its much better. But i find the original magnums catridge very good but expencive that the only thing i dont like so much, but you have no need for two or three machines on you table you just have to have that amount of needles catridge you need to do you tattoo.'

RE:cheyenne hawk

the hawk is a good machine for blending, for packing real solid isnt that good, the motor isnt so powerfull as it seems.
you have to run them on high voltage to get a good saturation

RE:cheyenne hawk

Absolutely no difference between the hawk spirit and original...merely colors and a new product to sell. T tech is great! The hit on this machine is unlike any I've used and we've been trying to figure out how to describe it at our shop haha some what between coils and rotaries I suppose but it's more than that and better than both. It is soft and smooth but also solid hitting and can saturate phenomenally and quickly with very little trauma to the skin. It seems to have solved the short comings of the rotaries, gotta try it a few times to see what i mean. This setup is Incredibly lightweight and has zero vibration, I can tattoo for 8 hours and my hand feels great like I havnt even worked!!! Not even so with my stigmas! I'm quite surprised you havnt been on this machine big time mike, especially as you've been favoring the no give end of the rotaries and disposables. It has Hella sped me up too. Best liner I've used, even over my Cain and Soba. T tech has basically gotten us to to sell off everything else now!! This won't make you tattoo better. As dude said on nicks forum, if you cannot tattoo well the hawk aint gonna help you...but it will simplify your setup an makes your life easier and more efficient. Try the t tech setup on your machines and try the hawk it is definitely worth checking out.

I was out in Miami and the Hawk guys hooked me up with the Hawk Spirit, so i'm going to give it a solid second shot. First time around i didn't like it but ill give it another whirl...My thoughts soon....

RE:cheyenne hawk

I bought the new Spirit and it is great. However, I really want to warn you about the FAKE T-TECH NEEDELS. Namely, t-tech is a Chinese company that is portending to be Canadian, and unlike originals, none of their needles are sterilized. I guess, you get what you pay for. Personally, I rather go with the original sterilized needless and pay a little extra, than be sorry later. If you are a responsible artists, I wouldn't recommend the CHEAP CHINESE JUNK! I got burned once.

RE:cheyenne hawk

SORRY MAN, HOW YOU CAN SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT, THAT MEANS THAT ALL PLASTIC TUBES AND NEEDLES WHICH ARE MADE IN CHINA ARE NOT STERILIZED TOO. ALL THE THINGS IMPORTED FROM
CHINA LIKE NEEDLES AND MEDICAL EQUIPEMENT ARE PASSING MANY CONTROLS NOT JUST ONE.
THESE T-TECH NEEDLES ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS FROM CHEYENNE .

ARE YOU SURE THAT ORIGINALS ARE STERILIZED?:))

RE:cheyenne hawk

ive used both ttech and hawk
they are made right in Toronto Canada... last i checked Toronto is still in north america.
they work fine, but they do seem cheaper, in quality, but like i said they work fine..i actually prefer t tech for lining.

RE:cheyenne hawk

Used the Hawk Spirit today and I'm already over it, I wont be using it again. I gave it a fair shot. Theres just machines out there that are better. The convenience of the quick changeable tips are awesome, but it just doesn't compare to some of the other great rotaries available now. Thats my opinion anyways...

RE:cheyenne hawk

Different strokes fo different folks i guess...

RE:cheyenne hawk

the hwak is to rigid for your work mike?or do you don tlike the needles?

RE:cheyenne hawk

I definitely agree with the that statement "different strokes for different folks"...So True!

Just because I say I don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't work good for other artists,I see great tattoo artists producing great work with it.

Theres Pros and Cons to all the different machines out there. Just gotta weigh em out for yourself.

RE:cheyenne hawk

I am not saying that all things made in China are crap, but 99.9% of things made in China is definitely crap. Now, t-tech is a Chinese forefront company that is based in Canada so that it can sell its junk to us in North America. The needless are cheaper, but non-of their needles are sterilized(.) Also, their needless are not made in Canada, but in China. If you want to use them, go ahead mate. Good Luck! I used that unsterile crap once, and never again!

RE:cheyenne hawk

Also, without going to far of the topic. A company that dosen't want to spent $100 to have their own email account, but instead uses "gmail" as their official email, will hardly have millions to spent to sterilize their needles, or will they? :) On the other hand, Cheyenne is a establish German company. And all of their stuff is made in Europe, so, you cannot compare these two..Also, why do you think t-tech was band from Europe in 2009?? Google it and see it for ur self..My only point is the fact; that t-tech needless are unsterol crap, that's all.

RE:cheyenne hawk

I tired cheyenne as well.didnt like as well for my taste.cuz i tend to do circles from tight to big loose ovals.what happened was confugirations on magnum was too tight.so when i was doing circles it wasnt smooth.was ugly needle marks.but it would work perfect if u wanna da do back an forth or wip shading.so i didnt wanna change my style of tattooing cuz of machine.i also work with vibration with streaching finger.vibration on cheyenn machine was too much.it was wierd to tattoo with that much vibration.makes me think that im chewing up skin.but tattoo heald in a weak with good result.but i saw best tattoos done with this machine like Mike said

RE:cheyenne hawk

ive got 2 hawks..the original,and the spirit.
i never encountered any Vibration.
i agree the hawk is not good for everything..i just cant do tradional to my liking with it..but black and grey and photo realism works for me.
at the same time my rapiers, stigma, and Dragonflys are awesome for everything...
i just cant put my Hawks down.. check out Mark Duhans work.. he only uses Hawks.

RE:cheyenne hawk

hawk needles is not very good, lots of them is hooked,is very tight .
the problem is the hawk cartridges dont let make them more spread, like most of rotarys is good for blending not for solid color
if the hawk wanna live in the market they have to make lots of changes, and let the people make is own needles for the cartridges

RE:cheyenne hawk

i didnt mean machine vibrates.i meant vibration from skin when you stretching properly.machine itself is quietest machine.
