Painting and Prints

So a little off tattoo topic but, I have a bunch of oil paintings that I am interested in duplicating and I just never explored the process of getting High Quality Giclee Canvas Prints. I mean logically I can just photograph it ( I have a fairly decent DSLR) and get it printed on canvas but, is that how it is done?
Any insight would be great.

Just to elaborate, these are my own paintings. I would think there are large format scanners but waiting for these to dry enough to scan them is torture...

RE:Painting and Prints

I have done this before. I have a conon rebel xti and I just shot it at the highest res using a tripod and I actually had a large format printer that I could print to myself. I used a plug-in for Photoshop that is called onOne genuine fractals to enlarge the images. It works great. Took a couple 6x4 in photos and blew them up as large as 20x30 and printed them to canvas. The turned out great. The higher the res of the original will result in a better canvas print. Hope this helps. Good luck!
