RE:heavy bleeding

.

Hey bro, there are a few things that can cause severe bleeding, being a hemophiliac would be one of them, this is a disorder that causes people to bleed from different parts of the body, ask him if he would mind being tested for this condition..,, very high blood pressure can also cause more bleeding, as well as very low blood pressure.. also some drugs can thin the blood, ask this guy if he is taking an "ECA" stack, this is a combination of 24mg of ephedrine, 200 mg, of caffeine, and one aspirin. this cocktail will usually increase resting heat rate, and the ephedrine affects your beta 2 receptor that promote lipolysis, the breaking down of body fat, and the aspirin thins your blood to help with all this...one side effect of this common cocktail is blood in the stool... there are a few steroids than can have some effect on your coagulation, but i would need to know the exact names in order to help further... usually the most common bleeding effect from steroids are gastrointestinal bleeding.
also ask the guy if he is on any particular medication, for epilepsy, diabetes, heart meds, ect,ect some meds can thin the blood and slow the coagulation effect.......
the only thing I can really suggest for people that bleed more than usual is , I will usually use some cold distilled water for wiping, don't wet your towel too much, and I will slow my machine down, use good stretch to help hold back the blood for each pass, a similar thing I do for white, to help ensure that the blood doesn't mix with the ink. use long taper needles or bug pins, they cause less trauma than regular..and if possible try to tattoo the area by keeping the area above the heart. for example if your tattooing his calf, have him lay down and prop his leg above his heart,, sound strange I know, but it does help.. if its his forearm, then have him put it straight out on the arm rest at shoulder height and you will have to stand to do the tattoo...

hope that helps bro.

RE:heavy bleeding

Stephen hit a good point with blood pressure and ECA. The ECA will increase resting heart rate and thin the blood out. EPO is another (pretty remote) possibility. EPO is a drug that increases the number of red blood cells for atheletes usually competing in track events but it has been gaining popularity in the bodybuilding and steroid circles. The more rbc's, the more oxygen and nutrients to the muscle cells. Now, I have a regular that has to take aspirin for his heart. Usually around 6 a day. So yeah, when he's taken his apirin for the day he bleeds like hell at the slightest touch. Thanks Stephen for the cold water tip, I'll have to try that out next time my guy comes in.

RE:heavy bleeding

Some people just bleed a lot. It isn't common, I have a very busy shop in a university town and I would say about 1% bleed the way you describe, but it does happen. It can be caused be a bunch of reasons, anything from diet and medication to how often and how much they drink. I have found for me personally when someone bleeds heavy I wipe them with witch hazel instead of green soap, it usually does the trick. If it doesn't, i use alcohol. Sometimes You got to what is uncomfortable to get the best results.

RE:heavy bleeding

ACTUALLY IT IS NOT HIS TECHNIQUE.
I HAVE HAD 7 TATTOOS DONE MOST BY THE SAME PERSON, AND I BLED HAVING THEM ALL.
SHOULDER, WRIST, LOWER BACK, FORE ARM. EVEN WHEN THE OTHER ARTISTS DID IT I BLED JUST THE SAME... SOME PEOPLE BLEED A LOT SOME PEOPLE DON'T...
P.S. CLEARLY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH HIS TECHNIQUE OTHER WISE HE WOULD NOT HAVE QUALIFIED.

RE:heavy bleeding

Hey Glen. I checked out your work on facebook and from seeing your stuff, I can honestly say that you are working FAR too aggressively. If you take a look at your B&G Madonna especially on the forehead line... you cut that guy hard. Literally 80% of your work is done fairly aggressively, the Madonna is just more obvious. This is not to put you down or call you out. Your work is pretty impressive, but in my opinion, there is some technical issues at hand here. My suggestion is that you lighten your hand up a bit and work a bit slower rather than quick and aggressive. Once again, this comes from a heart of helpful criticism and there's no shame in evaluating yourself and your technique objectively before looking for external causes. It only helps you grow.

RE:heavy bleeding

I've encountered this quite frequently. Mostly with people that used to be over weight and have lost it leaving them with a lot of "hang" and subcutaneous fat or scarring from stretch. I also find it a lot with "stretch" marks. If the Guy is slamming on the steel too hard his SWELL will cause scarring and stretching that he may not be aware of the damage he is doing from too much "RAPID GROWTH". Look at his arm pit right in the crook where it meets the Pectoral. If you see miniature "tiger stripes" I.E. stretch marks then it is from scarring underneath. another way to know is to start to work on him and then slap "Petroliam Jelly" over it and wait a minute. If it leaks plasma out excessively then that's your culprit. Hope this helps. Or try a Round Mag

RE:heavy bleeding

I have a personal friend who I have tattooed over the years she doesn't take drugs or drink and isn't on any medication but she doesn't take vitamins daily. Anyhow after tattooing her for about a hour she starts to bleed more then normal. So people's body's just bleed more, or Maybe they have some medical problem there not aware of and that is causing the problem ?
