RE:Bone Colour

Well....
I suppose it all depends on what "Type" of bone your going for..
bleached out, rotted, aged, realistic, ect
There is no one color that will do it,
however a transition of colors as well as tones tints and hues may be combined to produce what your looking for...
Any more info on the piece your wanting to produce may help out in assisting you.

.

hey,

There are a lot of choices in bone colors, It really depends on how you want to showcase it, example, rotting bone, old , fresh bone, dried out bone, unstriped, dirty, broken, ect, ect... with that in mind, how do you want your light source, is there any reflective colors next to the bone.. is it an open wound showing bone.... ect..
depending on how the bone is showcased, it can range from an off white, to light brown, almond, ocher/almond, light tan, light grey/white, Ivory white/sand, ...
to get the desired effect of bone it would help to tie in some surrounding colors along with your light source color,
for example, if you are using a off white/almond bone color, next to surrounding "earth tone colors, then put in some small amounts of light brown and tan, into the mix. this will help give a little better contrast with the bone instead of simply filling the bone an off white color with a few "grey cracks" in it if you know what I mean...
but the actual color of bones vary depending on how well it has been cleaned, if it is completely stripped and clean as a whistle, then the color would be an off white/eggshell color, the less the bone is clean the more variance you can use in your color choices, intenze, eternal, have a good selection for bone colors, more so in intense with their wider levels of different shades of similar colors....

hope that helps , take care.

RE:Bone Colour

What colors would I mix to get that realistic kind of sandy brown look?

RE:Bone Colour

It is always best to mix your own shade depending on the piece you are doing. A great base to use is Nikko Hurtado's Bone from Fusion.

RE:Bone Colour

For the person who asked specifically about sandy brown colors, I've gotta say I personally love the eternal colors in that family. Caramel is awesome and they have a dark ochre and light ochre that I love to blend that into, there's another color actually called wet sand I believe, just got some and I think I've only used it once so far but was cool. I like all their stuff on the darker end of that spectrum too, their brown and dark brown and what not. I've heard some people complain their Browns are too reddish but I think they're cool
