47uf ..Vs..22uf...for lining

OK so i bought a replacement set of coils through baltimore st iron.....i usually buy 22 micro farad(or-uf) capacitors for my liners if needed...well i accidentally was given or asked for 47uf cap. instead and without noticing put it in my machine.....i did notice a huge difference in handling during a tattoo, but it was for the better.....i was wondering if anyone else ran into this (issue) or if its better to use a 22 uf cap. or if it even matters.....
some input would be great CHEERS

Some well known builders build their liners with a 47uf capacitor. I run all of my liners with 47uf cause I felt an improvement in performance compared with the usual 22uf.

I see Mickey Sharpz use only one size cap. for all their machines.
I use these so really couldn't comment, then again I ain't the world's best but can tune all my machines to do what they're supposed to do.

im sure 22 will make your machine run a bit faster but not hit as hard.the 47 will slow it down and hit a bit harder.hope that helps

when i started tattooing more than 20 years ago, nearly all builders hung to the 47-version for all purposes- simply because they didn't know better. so most of my liners like sharpz are still running very fine with the first equipped 47s and i won't change that even if hell's gonna freeze.
the nice point on that: i don't have to fiddle around with needle sizes and machines, just a bit of finetuning at the contact screw and the voltage and i can use the same machine for a small or a big group and i don't have to think about whether it strikes powerfull enough for a let's say 7 or 9. when i want it running faster, i simply change the set up to cut back springs and on some machines i didn't do even that, but just changed the spring strength. most of my old liners have long front springs, o-rings and a quite powerfull long stroke- hate me for that, i'm fine with that.
when came- i call it the "eikon-age"- around, i fiddled quite a lot around with new set ups on new machines- of course leaving my old ladies in their- imho- fantastic state. so i found out for myself, that i never will become good friend with capacitors as small as 22. that results in definitely too weak machines for me: i simply never did fast one pass lines and flash stencil work in my life, i always builded up lines and did mostly freehand work until this very day. i even changed completely from liners to open rounds, so i found out, i sometimes can go with smaller caps with bigger needle groups for faster jobs. some of my machines nowadays are equipped with 33 caps, but i never went down to 22 again.

on the other hand i went bigger than 47 for some of my color packers, but thats a different story... ;)

47Vs22 uf or mf or any othe farad measurement doesnt neccisarily make a differance its the volts that makes a diff. You typically just want to use a cap that exceeds the voltage that u run urachine at so generally a 16 to 20 volt as long as u never intent on running the machine higher then the voltage on the capacitor ...tattoo machines are very old technoligy and very simple ,crude even ..Measurements of farads and micro f. And uf. Only apply and matter in much more technical multy functioning cirtcuts like I,Cs and cpu boards ...basically its just some numbers and letters that will do nothing but confuse tattoo artist ....and just incase ur all wandering this is not a gues i own a supply company i went to school for this shit just to learn how to make tattoo power supplys so trust that i know alot about electronic circuts
