29 mag

Hi guys, I bought my self a box of 29 mag curved needles.
They aren't easy to use. I Kind of figured out how to use them.. but then again its only my 5th attempt so style not sure about how to adjust my power and wath coil machine to use. I use mickysharpz, Got 10 and a 12 wrap shaders.
I m not buying an other machine. so can anymore advise me on how to use the needle with what I have.

Question 2. can I even pack color with a 29 ?

thanks

I cant relate to the last to post but I will tell you as a professional is there post are very bad advice. I myself have never had experience with a 29mg but I have used 25's. I have found larger grouped needles work best for large areas of black and gray. Haven't had the best results for using them for color. Seems they dont penetrate even. But that could just be the way i use them. When I use them my machine is set up with less of a gap. Contact screw not as high and I turn my power supply up a bit. Hope this helps. Oh and in bend my front spring a bit more

RE:29 mag

I wouldn't use anything larger than a 25 mag. Always use curved long taper mags when your getting into those bigger groupings, unless your jus wanting solid black. 15 mags are really nice for blends and allow you to get into smaller areas still. 25s are good for background and large areas that need blended. Always use metal grips because they can twist when your using them, disposable is good up to 17m. Your also going to have to run your machine a little harder because its a bigger needle. The guy that said to only use 7 mags is comedy. Medium taper 7s are ok for color packing, but it's still a pretty small needle and will make things take much longer than they should. Keep this in mind. Bigger the needle, smoother the blend. Hope that helps

Holy crap! 29 mags exist?? I'm gonna have nightmares tonight. What is that thing, like a half an inch wide? Sounds scary to me. Tho i don't have much luck with mags so far.

RE:29 mag

I have been wanting to try these for some time, at least for black and grey work. I never thought of blending with them, but i feel my gradients gould be more smooth.
So, I'll get a set and remember to reply my findings when i'm sure about it.

RE:29 mag

i currently use the 15, 29 & 49 curved mags, with stainless tubes.
i never really have a problem with 29's. but seems like i really gotta pay attention to the 49.
its ez to hamburger the flesh.
many kinds of flesh out there to adjust the equipment to.
softer is better to start.
a lil higher voltage to push the needle & a softer hit.
wen used proprly i accomplish alot fast.
ppl tapp out quicker. definitly not for the faint of heart.
colour can get patchy if not stretching the flesh enuff.
i only use the big mags on larger pieces, never use them on thin flesh areas, witch is not that often.
ppl see paint brushes made of needles & start to runnin.
problem is finding these big tools.
most of the time the 15cm works on everything very nicely.
