Rage Power supply vs Eikon Ems 400

Considering on buying a new power supply very soon. I hear a lot of great reviews for eikon ems 400, but i also heard people having quiet a bit of problems with them as well, i read some where that eikon only works in industrial out lets, is this true? i also been trying to look for some reviews on the new Rage Power supply but havent had any luck. Has any one tried this new power supply?

RE:Rage Power supply vs Eikon Ems 400

Im currently using the Rage power supply and I really do like it a lot. I have always been an Eikon guy since day one, so it takes a lot for me to switch. I had a few issues with the EMS 400, but small issues such as pushing the buttons and nothing happens, to holding a button and it goes to high or low, you just have to be spot on and you do get used to it after a while. I also don't like the timer on the new ems. Im not sure why they did it that way but it doesn't make sense, it only calculates the time when the foot switch is being pressed, tattoo artists don't charge according to only when the machine is running so I never used it, there is thinking time, cleaning out your needles, wiping/cleaning,etc that is not being accounted for. It is still a nice power supply, don't get me wrong. Although currently I do prefer the Rage power supply. The buttons are not as finicky or you can get it with the turn knob, the cord outlets come out the front unlike the ems, also I actually now use a timer since the Rage timer actually keeps track of the actual real time. Once the timer is pressed it goes until you either pause it or stop it. The only thing I would like to see on the Rage is an automatic shut off after an hour, or a sleep mode but you don't lose your time, or combined with an automatic pause/sleep mode when you haven't touched it after 10 minutes, there has been a few times I grabbed lunch and forgot to hit pause so it would be nice if it were a little more in-tuned with the lack of just forgetting about it. Also keep in mind on the Rage they did away with everything except for the volts, so if your one of those guys that like to see all the readings like the duty, etc. this might not be the power supply for you. I don't care about all the readings and like the simplicity of the Rage. So thats where Im at on my opinion between the two. I cant compare it to the critical power supply because I haven't used it.

RE:Rage Power supply vs Eikon Ems 400

i just got the tatsoul rage and have had all - rage, critical, and eikon. these three are the best power supply in the industry. b/c i dont really care to tune machines, I dont need the CPS and all those unnecessary readouts. For me, all i want is voltage readings and something easy to use that gives me consistency and the Rage does it. Yes, to me it beats out both eikon and critical. It looks sleek and the screen is so clear. If you are into all those crazy readings (maybe you are a coil machine builder) then i would say critical. But if you are like me a tattoo artist that just wants a good lookin and good workin power supply, then go for the Rage. That is my 2 pennies worth! heh!

I have ems400 and love it. Never any issue. One of the guys that I work with owns the rage and it's pretty slick. Very consistent. Only issue I noticed is his screen clicks. Personally I wouldn't buy the rage just for the simple fact it doesn't have a monetary foot switch option . I personally hate having to keep my foot on the pedal.

RE:Rage Power supply vs Eikon Ems 400

i have been using the eikon ems for a long time and like it besides the press buttons sometimes don't work well. but i just purchased the rage power supply and as soon as i step on the footswitch it stays running which is terrible for using an inkjecta (i have the md edition). does any one know how to stop this from happening? I'm sure thats not how its made to work.

RE:Rage Power supply vs Eikon Ems 400

I've had the rage power supply for about three months now, i really dig it, but, maybe its jst mine? but, since ive started using it, my machines seem to be heating up quick, too quick. I've been running neotat machines, with the tatsoul RCA cord, along with the push button foot switch, pretty much run them non-stop at 9-10.5 volts at the most, and heat up within 40 min, Ive used other power supplies including the critical power supply and haven't had that problem with my machines heating up? would mine be defective? or am i not doing something right?

RE:Rage Power supply vs Eikon Ems 400

@DreptOne, our first run of Rage's, we have had issues with feedback on certain motors (Chinese motors). Some of the Neotats use a Japanese Mabuchi motor that is made in China and its feedback can cause the machine to run warmer. We have a filter that should be able to take care of this. Please email support@tatsoul.com and request this filter and we will give it to you free of charge. We want to make sure you are happy with your purchase and will take care of you.

If you run any Swiss or German motor, you won't have this problem.

Thanks,

Billy
