what caused this color problem

So i got a new custom color packer from a friend who builds and wanted to try it out by coloring in an old outline on my leg. Ive seen work he has done with it and its been real solid color which is why i offered to buy it in the first place. Ive been apprenticing for 7 months now and my mentor was murdered 3 weeks ago and last monday they kind of kicked me out of the shop. I havent done any solid color pieces yet and this was my first attempt.

I don't know why it came out so choppy and not solid. I did everything as taught. Slow tight circles 45ish degree needle approach ect ect. Since i no longer have my mentor i thought id come to the internet.. i asked the friend who i bought the machine from and he says my hand speed was too fast but i was moving so slow.. took probably 50 mins to fill in.. idk any help in the right direction to pinpointing what i did wrong would be nice..

Used 4 flat mag and fusion power black if it helps

Iv been tattooing 17+ year so I'm no master, but I can tell u that the 4 mag is too small for a piece that big. I suggest using a 9-15 mag. Your pressure might not be deep enough also. When u color large pieces try to start from too to bottom and avoid going back and forth. Finish the bottom half completely, and color deeply as you go up. I hoped I helped a bit.
