Machine set-up for ROUND SHADER?

How do i set up a machine to run ROUND SHADERS?In the past I have had great luck with bulldog framed machines pushing 8rs into skin like butter. It's been 4 MACHINES NOW! $1600. They have had shader 18g springs, a extra large gap (literally like 1/4 inch), a great punch but soft yet powerful hit, and I could color pack, solid black, and actually smoothly shade large areas gradiently. It had the equivalent and speed of a sharpie marker on paper, yet I could also whip shade to great effect. I would have it on 8volts (any lower and it didn't pack ink) but after a few weeks or months I have to raise the volts to get the same effect. Eventually after time, I'm running the machines on double digit voltage and the coils get hot. I've tried everything, new coils/springs/cap, bent the springs all types of ways, I just can't get it and it is literally hindering my creativeness and is causing me to lose my inspiration because I am accustomed to using the 8rs and the machines are no longer pushing them. PLEASE HELP!!! Ps. Most of my work @ WWW.michaelryantattoo.com has been done with large help from round shaders (liners, mags are great too, but I NEED the round shaders). It's like no one even uses them anymore

Ps- I've tried to get 8rs to work in many many liner machines, many many shader machines, my bishop, dragonfly, Swiss machine--non of them slap the 8rs like my bulldogs USED TO before the crap out. I'm actually after tuning testing on small spots my own leg because to get this needle grouping working correct is a must for me. Tattooing is so important to me and I am out of ideas. I've written evryone from Aaron Cain to workhorse irons themselves. My bulldog machines are -jimmy Whitlock, luckys supply, work horse irons. All professional made machines. DOES ANYONE USE ROUND SHADERS FOR COLORING AND SHADING? I've even done portraits with them (look on my website in the portrait/realism section for the lounging guy with sunglasses and a cigar RIP)

RE:Machine set-up for ROUND SHADER?

Hey bro!
Have you tried turning in on and off again? Just kidding...
Sometimes the solution is simple, from your post I understand that
Everything was going great and than something went wrong.
Did you check your needles? Is it the same manufacturer?
Maybe you got a bad batch of needles? What about your clipcoard?
Of your power supplier? I know that sounds stupid, but I've had a
Problem with my clipcoard and it drove me crazy. I have been working with a stingray machine on my rs, I love how it works with an 8rs.

RE:Machine set-up for ROUND SHADER?

hey, sounds like you may need to check out the clipcord and what about the power supply. if it where just one machine i would say it where the coils or the frame was magnetizing. but if it is happening to all your machines i would have to guess it is your power supply, depending on what one you have you may be getting a low flow of power from it .kinda like a dead spot, i have seen in many power supplies if you make a lot of adjustments up and down they tend to get weak spots in the controls making them cut in and out or making them not to put out the correct voltage , especially in a older supply. that is what i would be looking at. hope you figure it out , good luck

RE:Machine set-up for ROUND SHADER?

UPDATE> So ive figured out something,,,,my boss hired this really egotistical tatttoo "artist" a few months before this all started. Im the manager of the shop also and i had to talk to this guy a few times for dumb unprofessional shit that would make any artists shop look bad. This guy was so defensive and caddy, then indirect like some type of retarted version of Machiavelli...but no where near as strategic, So within the first 2 weeks after speaking to him a few times and genuinly explaining its nothing personal against him but the shop needs to run a certain he kept getting defensive....then would inch along seeing what he could get away with, Without me yelling or acting crazy he realized he was going to get hands put on him so he stopped the shit, I thought we were ok. We talked "real" and even had conversations about his ego and defensiveness, Little did I know he actually cut all of my Inks with something, It all started with him, and after months of feeling like a scratcher and not even wanting to tattoo anymore i finally figured it out. Its such a shame when someone else is so uncaring as to possibly hurt hundreds of people all for payback for someone speaking about the Reality of a situation. So now my machines are all out of wack because tuning them and using $500 some-odd dollars of sabotaged ink gave me false results, which made me out tune the shit outta them. Thanks to everyone who answered me on this forum, you guys are awesome. Ps. That guy was fired before i even originally wrote this forum in May, He lives in Long Island somewhere...would love to see him

RE:Machine set-up for ROUND SHADER?

Hey there, thanks for the repost and the story . Man all I can say is wow what a dick move. You need to but his ass on blast all over the net. We definitely don't need anyone like that in the tattooing community. And what he did takes things to a different level. If I where you I would lock all your shit down for now on. You never know better safe then sorry. But thank you for posting this. Maybe it will get other artist to rethink their own equipment being left out. Maybe it's a learning experience that we all need to look at.
