Tattoo machine keeps slowing down

It seems as though every time I do a tattoo, after twenty minutes my machine slows down. I tried rubbing my front spring and contact screw with sandpaper, it works for about five minutes then the same thing happens. I also make sure everything on the machine is tightened and still the same thing. I've also noticed that when I tilt my machine in a downward motion to do a tattoo, it tends to slow down as well. Anyone know why this might be happening?

Rubbish clip cord contact, weak coils, springs ......

Hey, maybe try sanding the prongs on your clip cord and in the holes they go into on your miachine. Also maybe your clip cord is loose and the spring isn't giving it much tension holding it into those holes. Hope that helps

I agree with the above, it is likely a clipcord issue. I've never been able to sand the holes in the back bonding post, but when mine acted up like that I'd either flip the post over to use the second hole most have, or I'd replace it entirely.

Your coils will also need to be cleaned and lightly sanded from time to time to keep them at optimum performance.

I'd check the back binding post first, then look at the clipcord itself to see if there is an issue somewhere along the wire. Or just test it with a different clipcord and see if the problem persists.
