depends on what you are looking for. as far as a simple point and shot. most brands put out nice cameras in differant price ranges. i had good luck with kodak, and even got the printer dock to go with it so i didnt have to go any where to have photos developed. whatever you use make sure it is digital. now adays i use an olympus slr. kinda pricey but i have gotten into referance photography a lot in the past few years so the point and shoot wasnt cutting it. no matter what camera you get you should keep in mind that the conditions in which you are taking the photo in are going dictate the quality of the pictures as much as if not more then the camera itself. i like to take the pictures outside in a shady area using the ambient light of the sun , with no flash. Deano cook said if you are a tattooer you are also a photographer, so learn enough to get by. no one wants to see blurry pics in a portfolio. hope this helps----------------chris

i have the nikon d200...its a really good camera,kinda pricey but good.its really complicated if you dont know cameras,im starting to get the hang of it,im not one to read a 1000 page manaul,i just try and pick up tips from other people that use it,Mario from art junkies has the same one so it helps.For years i was able to get great pics just from a small casio exilim that is really simple just zoom and click.

I have a Sony cybeshot N2. Its small, has a 3 inch touch screen, 10.1 mega pixels it's f----- perfect, and doesn't really cost that much.

I've actually upgraded recently to the Nikon d-300,and its amazing..
