neuma vs hawk

hello mike
i hear that you left the neuma and now use the hawk machine.
is that true?

what you think about the hawk?

Replies:

RE: neuma vs hawk

No not true,i dont use the hawk,i have tried it but like the new neuma hybrid better.I had the hybrid prototypes briefly but had to give them back as there refining them and making them perfect but i liked them alot,i felt it it had the best of the three worlds, neuma 2,coils,and hawk.i cant wait to get them back and for good,it should be very soon.

RE: neuma vs hawk

I havent used the neuma hybrid with the motor attachment yet, only with the air.The big difference between the hawk and any other machine is the cost of needles,do the math its thousands of dollars a year, one tattoo a day it would be around 3 thousand a year , 3 tats a day with 3 needle set ups your looking around 9 or 10 thousand dollars a year just in needles, and a guy i knew that used them, was never happy with there customer service, sometimes they would be out of stock too, then what do you do,it sucks you can only get the needles from one place.other than that ive used it for 5 minutes once so i cant say to much about the way it ran, except within those 5 minutes i didnt like it.and i know alot of people that stopped using the hawk, not sure why.and i know a few people that love hem..its just like anything you just gotta try it

whats happen for you to change from neuma to hawk?
top of page

RE: neuma vs hawk

i haven't switched to anything, ive just been in a trial period just for the heck of it,experimenting with different machines just to learn more about what each machine is all about.

RE: neuma vs hawk

what do you think about the hawk machine?
everybody knows that the needles is expensive....but about the hawk machine, what do you think?

i ear some people said that the hawk dont have power enough to pack solid colors

RE: neuma vs hawk

i've been holding off on answering any machine type questions because lately ive been using, neuma hybrids, with and without electric module, the hawk(a little bit) and alot of different types of coil machines,i havent come to any final conclusions except the hawk is not good for blk n gry,,so give me about another week or two and i should have some good info.

RE: neuma vs hawk

hey Mike, is there any performance difference between the hybrid with the electric motor on and running it with air...(apart from a little weight difference)?
cheers
chris

RE: neuma vs hawk

mike why you say this?
"the hawk is not good for blk n gry"
this means that the hawk dont bogs down like a neuma or coils?is a more hard hiting?

thanks

RE: neuma vs hawk

My opinion...The hawk is not that great,i have one if someone wants to buy it,just let me know,i also have a ton of needles to go with it..and after using different coils for the last few months and liking them very much, i recently have been using the nuema hybrid and havent had so much fun tattooing in a long while so far its hands down the best machine i have used yet,the machine itself looks big but it is still lightweight so it doesnt feel bad at all,it feels like a really light coil machine in your hand.with or without the electirc module its great,i actually have been liking it alot with the module,it packs it in there great and speeds me up alot ,you dont have to go over areas as much for it to be solid,it is so differnent from the older neuma, honestly it just has more balls, but still has a nice smooth hit to it.,as of now i like the short stroke neuma with the medium cushion, its perfect!

RE: neuma vs hawk

happy to hear you mike
i have a hawk and im very dessapointed with the machine, the needles is a mess, the magnum is not heaved seems like a flat needle
and the machine dont have mutch power as i was thinking

im gonna try the new neuma
as you try the two machines ,can i ask you if the new neuma is more powerfull than the hawk machine?
top of page

RE: neuma vs hawk

It is more powerful especially with the motor attachment..

RE: neuma vs hawk

great i like powerfull machines
the hawk only scratch the skin, how do you get a tattoo with them?
do you use the hawk needles, what do you think about it?
i cant put the color with his needles?

RE: neuma vs hawk

I dont like using this forum to sell things but i just put my hawk set up on ebay Item number: 320376131569,if someone is interested the starting bid is pretty low for all thats included. But honestly it puts in color good, blk n gry i had a harder time with it, but ever since i got the hybrids with the motor i like that much better so im sticking with that.

RE: neuma vs hawk

hello mike
why you can get good colors with the hawk and dont liked for b&g work?
its because the needles or because the machine?
top of page

RE: neuma vs hawk

thats why that auction had so many bids, lol. glad I didn't buy it, I've been wanting to get the hybrid w/ electric but your the only one I've heard say anything about it.

RE: neuma vs hawk

For black and grey, the hawk was just to rigid for me,much harder to get it smooth and have light variations, for color its different becuase your mostly just packing it in solid anyways, but this is my opinion,im sure theres alot of guys that like it for blk n gry.the needles that came with it where good, just expensive.
