Machines Machines Machines

I’m kind of in the same boat as you. Trying new machines. What would you suggest at this point? I’m thinking fk or stigma?

If you have time I appreciate your feedback and maybe you can save me a few experimental dollars?

I admire your work and that you still find time to answer our questions. I’ll be buying your new book.

Maybe one day you could do a mini machine review.
Thanks

RE:Machines Machines Machines

A mini machine review is a great idea, ill do a blog post for the home page soon! Right now I'm torn between Hyper Stigma and Coils. Lately all i have been using is coils since i sent my stigmas in to get upgraded and I've been loving all the time i have been spending with coils. Heres a link to the best coils I have, and i have gone thru a ton of them. http://www.myspace.com/ikolans Iko is a really nice guy and what really tripped me out is i ordered a few machines from him and they came from France,by the time the package arrived to my studio the box looked like it went thru the garbage disposal and was stomped by a heard of cattle, and i took the machines out and ran them and they worked perfect! As soon as i get my Stigmas back I;m going to use them even more because they say it will have a bit more give than before. Although i really like them before i sent them back he just suggested that i do it. I honestly recommend using both type of machines and if you can drop the coin,go for it. You'll be stoked. use the Hyper Stigmas if you want something really tight, smooth and alot of details. If the tattoo calls for a really saturated, loose, solid, and a bit faster tattoo use the coils or a combination of both at the same time, works really well. Thats what I've been doing and have liked the results of the tattoos healed.

RE:Machines Machines Machines

Thanks I contacted iko
I need a good one pass liner. So ill start there with iko?

What’s the American price for the hyper? I’m assuming it’s the hyper 2? The website says they are out of stock and I couldn’t see pricing.

Upgrade ? is there some way I should ask them to tweak when I order?

Again thank you for your time, I know you’re a busy man.

RE:Machines Machines Machines

Awesome, You'll love the machine from Iko. If you order from the Hyper guys, definitely ask about the newest version. I haven't tried it yet, hopefully i get them back soon and ill post my thoughts on them.As far as cost i think there around 400 Euros which is about 530 us dollars, but don't quote me on that, it might be a bit less or more.

RE:Machines Machines Machines

Thanks again

You wouldn’t happen to have the email address to hyper? If you click to order or contact on their site it says to order after May 3rd but I had questions. Lol It won’t let me bypass the pop up.

Anyway ill shoot those out maybe you or someone here can help me.
Does it come with the rubber band tension thing as pictured on their site?

And do they use number 12 rubber bands? Just curious on that one.

My main question is will critical cx2 power them? I have fallen for this power supply and want to order one. Or would you suggest a good supply. I’ve been running neumas on air so I need one.

Thank you very much for your time. And to anyone who can answer.

www.stigma-rotary-tattoo.com

The critical power supply is great it works very well with the hybrid attachment.

And my Stigmas run much better on it too. I had a lauro paolini power supply and two other random ones and never worked right. Had them up full volts and the hybrids ran very weak.

I have the original Hyper like the one Mike has and it's a great machine. It's a much softer hit than the new Hyper2, but still saturates well and lovely for black and grey. I'll still keep the Hyper2 and usually pull it out if i feel like a change.

RE:Machines Machines Machines

If you are looking for thte most consistent and lightest coil machine out there then The FK Irons is the answer. I own 4 of them and love them. I just can say much regarding rotaries because nothing that I have tried in the past has the flexibility to adjust the machine to do certain things I rely on.

If your game is coils and springs you can't go wrong the FKs Filip Leu said it once "any other new machine out there is just trying to mimic the old concept but with lots of less benefits."

RE:Machines Machines Machines

Hi Darkink,

I`m Artemis from Stigma® Rotary
The machines are available through our reseller "Coldskin"
If you have problems to register you can use their "contact" link to ask any question regarding the Hypers.
Can you please tell us from where you got the information that you can not get the "Hypers" in the States anymore ? Thanks !!!!

RE:Machines Machines Machines

Thanks
I’m happy to know you will still be shipping to the states. As for where I read it. It’s a private forum. Not sure I can say. But I will update the members that you will still ship to the us. And ask if I can mention the site here.

RE:Machines Machines Machines

If you are trying to find an outlet that will ship Stigmas to the States, try coldskin.nl. Gideon was very fast to reply to my inquiry. I personally contacted every outlet on the stigma-rotary-tattoo.com website and coldskin.nl was not only the fastest to respond but also the least expensive at $479 per Hyper V2. Keep in mind however, you will have to pay some sort of customs fees by ordering from an international outlet, and shipping is around $50 - $60 to ship internationally. If it just seems like trying to order from Mike is becoming to difficult or you are impatient then you can then try one of the others. I ordered mine from Eikon for $510 a piece, and $30 combined for next day shipping. Not sure where they are located but the Stigma website had them listed as an United States outlet and for only $30 for combined, next day shipping, that was the best i could find. On their website they have an option to be notified when the Stigma of your choice is in stock. That's what I did. Only you better be fast when you get the email. 20 minutes after I received the email, Eikon sold out. The red and black Hyper V2 was removed from my shopping cart because they sold out of them before I could even finish completing my order. I was thankfully able to get at least two red ones, sell one, and found a black and silver one on eBay a guy recently received from Mike but needed the money more than the machine. You can also try tattoosafe.de, contact person for them is Stephanie Krauße. The Hypers from them are $479.31 and shipping is $59.01 and they are accepting pre-orders now for the middle of October. One more website I found that has Hypers was tattoo-goods.de, contact Mirko Hahn, there they sell for $491.91 and $65.43 for shipping. They too, are accepting pre-orders for mid October. I really enjoy using mine. I have not picked up my coils since. Like anything new, it takes some getting used to. After a week of using the Hypers, I find that I am saving time on tattoos that would of usually taken longer to complete. I have read that some say they are slower but that rests entirely on the artist. It's probably just an cautious approach, getting the hang of them, and refraining from over working the skin, that could cause you to work at a slower pace with them. They do require more power than you will be used to using. I use Kingpins digital dual power supply and found between 9 and a little past 10 works for me. Don't even try to run them on 5 -7 volts like a pair of coils. I can see how artist used to using coils could end up taking longer to complete tattoos. If you're using an Hyper, turn that sucker up. Like Mystikal said, "Don't be scerred!" Once I began to get the hang of it, I was turning the power up a bit and was actually achieving similar results in less time compared to my coil machines. From the nearly soundless environment, to the simplicity of the design, just plug and play, to the light weightiness of the Hyper, not only are my customers thanking me and making positive comments, but my hands are thanking me too and as the years go on, I assume will demand the use of them as well. Artemis, thanks buddy!

RE:Machines Machines Machines

Mike,
Whick iko models have you used? Also have you tried pulse machines? I can't decide if I want a pair of coils or a hyper. Coils seem to be readily available and are more affordable, If you had to choose what would you suggest? Thanks for your time, the new dvd is awesome by the way.

RE:Machines Machines Machines

I'm not sure of the exact Iko models that I have. But if you go on Iko's Myspace there shows a couple pictures of the machines he made for me, it has my name underneath it. As far as you choosing whether or not you should go with a pair of coils or Stigma. It's tough for someone else to make that judgment call for you, without seeing how you work or what your work looks like or what you want it to look like. All I know is I have been very happy with all the Stigma machines, the new Fly kicks ass as well as the Bizarre. It's your call, if it were up to me you should buy a pair of Iko machines and tell him you want some soft hitting nice machines and he'll take care of you, and wait till the Stigmas are back in stock and buy a couple of those, I know that would cost a lot of money, but you'll be happy with both and will find a use for both, it would be a good investment, you gotta have the sweet tools of the trade.
