I'm interested in black and gray to with the hyper .. I have done a few but it almost hits to hard.. Even with it set to soft. Any input on volts for black and gray or how many turns on the knob would be helpfull . We all turn mike and I know ur busy.. But not sure who to ask other than u. Or who I'd want to ask...

Black and grey with the Stigma is just as awesome as using it for color. Have the give screw loosened just a couple turns from the snug position, I keep it like that for everything, black and grey, color and lining. Run it at the volt level that you feel comfortable with, depending on how fast you move and the way you tattoo. I noticed with the new Hypers I received that some of them needed to be ran a bit higher around 9 or 10 volts, when my other ones that I have, I was running them between 8 and 8.7. So with that being said you really have to feel it out, I cant really say what volt to run it at because each one could be slightly different.

As far as the Hit goes,If your give screw is loosened a bit and if you still feel it hits to hard, just give it some usage and it will soften up for you after a bit of time. Seems to be the more you use it the better they get.

Just got my Stigma Bizarre back all upgraded and with a new motor. First job. Shading a full sleeve black n grey dragon and it ran perfect.
I've always loved the stigma machines for black n grey, I used to have an old Hyper and that was good too.
Definitely a different technique needed though if you're used to using a very soft hitting coil for this kind of work.

I just got the new hyper after having the original version, and was a little hesitant to try it for black and grey, but just did a b&g piece today and I absolutely love it. Like Mike said, it really works great for everything loosened up with more give. It is a little easier to shade with a disposable tube, rather than a steal one because of weight ratio. I'm extremely psyched on this machine right now, (and I got it from some dude on ebay for $400 unused!) I'll be buying another one soon.
