Disposable "Rat Grips"

I just purchased the new "Animal Style" DVD from Mike. The Question I have is exactly where to get those disposable grip covers that he put on the disposables. I personally still use steel grips, but I would love to place them (hopefully) over my 1 1/4" inch grips. I definitely feel that it will help with the rattling in my hands. I don't purchase the regular "Rat Grips" because they are a pain in the ass to get on and off when I need to scrub and autoclave my grips. I know some artist don't bother to take them off, but I have an issue with not being able to scrub every bit of my tube and autoclave the grip separate from the tube. I much rather just cut the disposable ones right off and use a new one the next time around. If anybody could help that would be great, thanks?

RE:Disposable

Thats a good question and I wish I could tell ya! I used to get them from Tommys supplies but they don't carry them anymore and the company they were getting them from are not making them anymore. What a bummer !! Because they helped so much and the Red Rat grips a just a little to pricey to be disposable. So lately I have just been using the disposable plastic tubes with no soft grip...

RE:Disposable

I recently picked up some of the Gorilla grips from somewhere. Maybe monster steel or Painful pleasures but they are pretty good (google search). They are a a pain to get off, but at the sink if you put the back stem down on the edge of the sink and press down on the grip, they slide right off no problem. I got 5 of them to try and I'll be getting some more soon. I would rather just get disposables but like Mike said, good luck finding them...

RE:Disposable

Thanks guys, it is shitty that I can't find them. I know Unimax carries some puzzle piece like rat grips, I am just not sure how good they really are. They kind of look half ass to be honest. The only other thing I can think of (and it probably sounds ghetto) is to buy rat grips, cut one side with a blade, then tape them around my grips with a super sticky tape. Then, at the end of each session just scrap the tape and autoclave the grip... Actually, fuck that. I will just do what I am doing now.. use the steel grip. Thanks again guys.

RE:Disposable

I use red rat grips and put them on and take them off before and after each tattoo. The trick is when you are setting up put a little bit of ointment on the steel grip (very little though). This makes it much easier to put them on and take them off every time you autoclave them.

RE:Disposable

Awesome dude, I am going to just give it a try. I really don't want my hands to take a shit before my career. Thank you very much for the feedback dude. I am going to put on a little ointment and see where it goes from there. I use 1 1/4" inch grips from Mithra, the "pear" shaped ones. Do you know if it will fit those?

RE:Disposable

I use titanium grips, but strait ones that are only half knurled. 22mm or aprox. 1'. Their easy enough to put on redrats, just put them on the kurled side first. As erlier stated just slide of useing the sink and press down resting on the backside of the tube. If you are looking for the best grips and tubes that money kan offer check goodluckiron.com out. Handmade and absolutly the best you´ll ever find.

For white highlights I still use disposables but don´t even bother with redrats on them.

RE:Disposable

ORDER RECEIVED, Zero issues. I did a solid 4 hour piece with no problems. The trial grip I ordered was the 1 inch. I figured the bigger they were the better chance there was for floppi-ness and it help on stron the whole time.
I highly recommend if you like the red-rat grips or gorilla grips but hate to take them on and off, pick up some of these puzzle grips. So far unimax seems to be the only carrier of them. If I find them elsewhere I'll update this.

RE:Disposable

I bought some of the puzzle grips from Unimax and unfortunately they didn't work out for me. I purchased all the different sizes and I couldn't get it to fit right on my Grip, they were either to big or to small. They also didn't cut down the vibration as well as the old red disposable grips or red rat grips. Ill be using a paper towel wrapped around my grip until something better comes out.

RE:Disposable

Well that's no good. I'm switching to disposable too (mithra) so I'm glad you posted that before I bought a bunch of them based on how well they fit my stainless grip. I do still have about 50 Red Rats but they are too pricey to be disposable. I wish Eternal still had those red throwaway's...
