Spray Stuff question

Hey there.

Quick question regarding Spray Stuff.

I currently use Stencil Stuff for applying my stencils, with great results I might ad, but I find that, especially with larger intricate stencils, I still end up racing the stencil towards the end. You'll probably tell me that I can fix this by being more careful when I wipe, but in truth I try to be as careful as I can. Here's the question...

If, after applying the stencil with Stencil Stuff and waiting the recommended drying time, would it be worthwhile to apply a thin layer of Spray Stuff over top? Or is Spray Stuff strictly formulated for pen & marker ink? Has anyone tried this, and what were the results if you did?

I hope this question isn't out to lunch but, if it is, flame away... :)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

RE:Spray Stuff question

I have found that if Im tattooing a sweaty person or an area that sweats or maybe its a real humid day then my chances of having a bad stencil day is higher. I have found a couple ways to avoid that. For one if its hot in your shop turn the air conditioner on higher, we usually like it nice and cool in a shop anyways. The other trick that I have found most useful is before applying the stencil stuff... Different artists have different ways of prepping the skin before starting, but always think dry! After shaving the area using Green Soap or Dial Soap,etc..Rub on alcohol or hand sanitizer(which I prefer) That will not only clean the area very well, it will also dry out the skin which is good because it will help with holding on the stencil, no matter what type of stencil solution you are using... I have tried using a thin coat of Spray Stuff over a Stencil and sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't, it was designed for holding on pen and marker drawings. I never try it anymore, unless I have one of those sweaty clients. lol And I want to take a little more precaution. But usually the Hand Sanitizer is key, cleaning and drying out the area before applying the stencil.

Heya Mike,

Thanks for the quick and detailed response! All excellent points and I'll be sure to put them into play the next time I'm doing a piece that has a worrisome stencil.

Much appreciated as always man.

Cheers,
Greg

RE:Spray Stuff question

"Less is more!" When it comes down to using Spray Stuff... You don't want to spray to much! A light mist does the trick...
